The most important difference between Hemp and Cannabis is that Hemp has high concentration of Cannabidiol (CBD) while Cannabis has high concentrations of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
HEMP is one of the two varieties of the Cannabis Sativa plant species in the Cannabacea family. Hemp has high concentrations of the CBD compound and very low concentrations of the THC compound. Therefore the use of Hemp does NOT lead to a psychoactive effect or make a person feel “high”, “stoned” or intoxicated, Industrial Hemp cultivation is legal in the United States. Hemp is used to produce variety of products such as fiber, clothing, dietary supplements, and beauty products.
Cannabis (or Marijuana) is the other variety of the Cannabis Sativa plant species in the Cannabacea family. Cannabis has high concentrations of THC, the cannabinoid that produces the psychoactive effects which make a person feel “high”, “stoned” or intoxicated.
